A Kitten

While we were waiting to be rejected from adopting a cat from the cat rescue group, our vet told us about a litter of kittens that were dropped off at the office recently. They were 3 weeks old and there was one left to be adopted, a male. O.M.G. He was so so stinking cute! I immediately said I want him! Tommy said oh no, it’s either the cat from the rescue or the kitten; not both. Of course I agreed with him. The veterinarian said she would hold the kitten for us until we heard back from the rescue group.

Monday rolls around and I get a call from cat rescue lady. We are being rejected. I couldn’t help but be somewhat amused. I mean seriously? Rescue lady said they would rather have the cat we wanted to be with another cat it’s age. I’m thinking; so…the cat has been there for 4 months already, we want him and can provide a loving home; but you feel he should be kept even longer in a windowed cube until you find someone with a cat the same age. Doesn’t make much sense but who am I to know better?

I immediately call our Vet to tell them we are definitely taking the kitten. He is now 4 weeks old and they want him to gain more weight so he can get his first vaccine, so we can’t bring him home yet. That’s ok, I’d rather he be ready than be running back to the animal hospital. He is so so cute and playful. We’re debating his name. Tommy likes Moe. Samantha and I are leaning towards Jack. I’m sure we can come to some kind of compromise.
